Ricky Summers

Commander ~ Ricky Summers

Ricky Summers was born in State College, PA on Oct 03, 1972. I joined the Air Force in Nov 1991; in April 1992 I was stationed here at Mountain Home AFB and retired from the Air Force Jan 2013. I joined Elmore County Search & Rescue in Sept 2008 and have enjoyed all the training and SAR missions to help rescue lost and injured subjects. I was elected ECSAR Commander (SAR 1) January 2013. I am an avid outdoors man while enjoying hunting, fishing, ATV's, UTV's, motorcycling, hiking, snowmobiling, and camping. I enjoy my time with this great organization. The best part of our organization is that all members are volunteers which makes this unit unique. We have a very diverse county with every style of terrain imaginable from desert to rivers and rolling hills to 10,000 ft mountain peaks. We have many different sizes of water reservoirs from ponds to 3 different dams, streams and even the mighty Snake River. If you get lost in Elmore County we will find you.

Kevin Mitchell

Vice Commander ~ Kevin Mitchell

Hello, my name is Kevin Mitchell, SAR 2. I grew up in Upstate New York, where I joined the USAF at 18. I came to Mountain Home in 1996, where I met my wife and started a family. I traveled the world as an AMMO troop and retired in 2015 after 23 years. I'm an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and outdoors man. I love everything Idaho has to offer and spend at least 80% of my time in the hills, on the water, playing with cows, and just being outdoors. My wife and I became members of ECSAR in February 2019. Since I'm retired, I quickly embraced everything SAR. I jumped in feet first with every search and training possible. I was appointed to SAR 7 in 2019-2020, SAR 6 in 2020-2021, and finally SAR 2 in July 2021. I have all the skills, and the time as SAR 2 to lead ECSAR in the field or at the building! I've showed this in many settings: on the mountain, on the river, at the fundraisers, at the trainings, etc, and I strive to make ECSAR the best it can be!

During my 23 years in the military, I served on combat search and rescue teams, and performed search and recovery missions as well. I retired from the Air Force from Mountain Home AFB in 2019.
